Welcome to the Angelus Statue "in
progress" photo gallery! This much-anticipated statue is based on the beautiful, powerful Top Cow Productions character, presented through the eyes of Sculptor Clayburn Moore.
The statue's pose is based on the image shown at right.
We will be posting photos weekly, leading right up to the statue's debut at Comic-Con International: San Diego. The most recent post will appear at the top, so if you miss anything, scroll down to see the earlier posts.
The statue's costume and overall look is based on the image at the top of the page as well as this beautiful image by Marc Silvestri. The statue photos show the piece nearing completion, with only the wings, spear, and base to finish.
Clayburn begins with a wire armature, and adds Sculpey to build up the basic form. In the first two photos you can see this beginning process. The next two photos show the figure taking shape. The head is done separately, so a loose head form is used to show scale.
PART ONE: Pose Mock-Up
Clayburn created this preliminary pose mock-up for Top Cow Productions' approval prior to beginning work on the actual statue. Next time, we will post the early stages of Clayburn's work on the statue.
